He was the recipient of the Navy United Commendation Medal. In 1960, he was appointed an Honorary Colonel in the State of Oklahoma by Governor Edward Edmondson. From 1953 Ð 1971, he worked at the Lancaster RCA plant in supervisory and administrative positions. He was the deputy secretary of the PA Dept of Labor and Industry where he was in charge of the Bureau of Occupational Injury and Disease (Worker's Compensation). He also served on various boards and commissions including the Hazardous Substance Transportation Board, PA Industrial Development Authority (PIDA), PA Higher Education Assistance Agency and State Worker's Insurance Board. Retired from the U. S. Department of Defense in 1987, where he had been an industrial specialist. He was the Lancaster Co. Democratic chairman, 1967 Ð 1972, a Manheim Township Democratic committeeman, president of the National Council of Christians and Jews (NCCJ) 1969 Ð 1970, and the caper Club 1998-1999. Although he did not like politics, Koller was Brightbill's campaign manager when Brightbill ran for district attorney in 1977.
