Archibald Stewart, m. Margaret _____. They came from Newry in Ireland, on board ship "Happy Return," James Boggs, master, July, 1752. and settled in the Cumberland Valley, near Carlisle in 1753. Their children, all grown up, were: 2. i. William. ii. John (see Cumberland county wills). iii. Archibald. II. William Stewart (Archibald) d. July 29, 1784. He m. Elizabeth Wilson; d. August 12, 1822. He served in the Cumberland county militia. Their children were: 3. i. John, b. June 8, 1770; m. firstly, Elizabeth Walker; m. secondly, Rebecca Johnston. ii. Wilson, d. May 20, 1814, s.p. iii. Sarah, m. Abraham Dean. iv. Mary, m. Noble Crawford. v. Margaret, m. George Brown. vi. Gracy, m. Henry Lukins. vii. Elizabeth, m. Isaac Cook. viii. Jean, m. Andrew Thompson (tailor). ix. Rachel, m. John Thompson. x. Rebecca, m. Andrew Thompson (farmer). III. John Stewart (William, Archibald), b. June 8, 1778, in the Cumberland Valley; d. April 13, 1831. He m. first Elizabeth Walker, dau. of David Walker. They had issue: i. Anna, m. Abraham Lukens and left issue: ii. Eliza, d. inf. iii. David, b. April 14, 1806; d. Sept. 20, 1836; m. Elizabeth McAlister. iv. William, d. March 5, 1834; s. p. Note: there was no v. vi. Eliza (second), m. Dr. Cyrus McCurdy, s. Horace McCurdy, of Bloomington, Ill. vii. Mary, m. Dr. John Irvin.
